10 Good Reasons Why

Ever felt like you were never good enough for God? I sure have felt that MANY times. I was just listening to “10 Good Reasons” by “Hello Kelly” and i just couldn’t help my self but to pull up the lyrics and to post them here. Tell you what, I am SOOO thankful that Christ died to forgive me EVEN though He knew how many times I would mess up. Romans 5:8 says that Jesus actually died for us EVEN while we were still sinners. It means that He didn’t do it because we showed any improvement or that we did anything that looked promising. Rather He did it in Hope that one day we would turn from our wicked ways and accept His love and sacrifice.

When you feel like your not good enough and that you feel like you need to give God reasons as to why He should love you, welcome to the club. All you need to do is to thank Him for His sacrifice and show Him that you love Him by obeying Him.

10 Good Reasons – Hello Kelly:

This is the first thing I remember
I’ve seen black and white forever
But the mistakes I’ve made are making me afraid
That I might do something
Something that can’t be forgiven
So I’ve got this suit and tie
Something I can hide behind

And it feels like I’ve got give you

10 good reasons why
You still love me every time
10 good reasons
I deserve forgiveness every night
10 good reason why
You still love me when I
I ain’t got no reason why

And I remember laying everything down
Only to turn around and sell you out
It’s like I’m laughing in your face for the sacrifice you made
But you’re breaking my defenses
And you’ll carry me when it feels like

it feels like

it feels like I’ve got give you

10 good reasons why
You still love me every time
10 good reasons
I deserve forgiveness every night
10 good reason why
You still love me when I
I ain’t got no reason why
you still love me every time

i got no reason why

But this is everything I wanted:
To give you reasons I’m not
Everything you wanted
Theres blood on my hands
These 10 reasons I can’t give you
Is one more reason that I need you

10 good reasons why
10 good reasons why

10 good reasons why
You still love me every time
10 good reasons
I deserve forgiveness every night
10 good reason why
You still love me when I
I ain’t got no reason why
you still love me every time

I aint got no, I aint got no, I aint got no reasons why
I ain’t got no, I aint got no, got no reason why

10 good reasons

I’ve been reading this book by Mark Miller entitled, Experiential Storytelling. It is about (Re)Discovering Narrative to Communicate God’s Message. It is honestly changing my entire view on preaching. I found this quote by a gentlemen named Kong Fu Tzu a.k.a Confucius and this is what he had to say. ” What I hear, I forget. What I see, I remember. What I do, I understand.” Young people, especially, nowadays want to feel something. Our society has become one of experiencing things. When you go to coffee shops, the $1 that you would normally spend on coffee now turns to $2, $3, $4 because you are not only paying for the coffee anymore; you are paying for the atmosphere that they’ve created with the rock music, the nice furniture or whatever other artsy creations that maybe displayed. Even the whole movie industry has caught on. People don’t seem to want to go watch regular movies at the theatre anymore, so they started to come out with all of these 3D movies in order to spike up the interest again and it is working. Due to the society in which we now live in, regular normal life and entertainment just doesn’t cut it anymore. It has to be more, more music, more colourful, more stuff, more interaction, more, more, more.

This is now the reality of the society in which we live in.  As teachers of the Word of God, we can either fight this or ride the wave. Personally I chose to ride the wave and to utilize this to reach to as many kids as possible. We need to realize that the world is changing and unless the church takes the time to realize these changes, we are going to lose our effectiveness. Mark Miller puts it this way: “Today’s Church leaders must see themselves as missionaries who are setting sail from the land of modernity to the uncharted waters of post-modernity, and the first rule of any missionary is to understand the language and culture of his or her community.”

Let’s be a people that effectively communicate the Greatest story ever recorded!
