Donevan Impact Apr 9th

WOW,

That’s all i can say. Wow. The Spirit of God was so present today as we spoke about forgiveness. The story of the adulterous woman accused by the Pharisees and Sadducee’s in Matt 8 was shared. I have never seen these kids pay such attention since Valerie Dionne shared her Testimony. (if you never heard he testimony, take her out for lunch and ask her, it’s worth it!!!) an altar call was made and 6 people gave their life’s to Christ. It was awesome. If there is one thing that will never stop to amaze me, it’s when someone surrenders to Christ! I got a quick chance to speak to them and i invited the whole group back to our Get a Grip Generation Service and our Special Easter Service on Sunday. Many of them took fliers and agreed they would come to both Sunday and Friday service! This is amazing :)

Donevan Impact Feb 26th 09

Posted by Phil Jean on Feb 26, 2009 in Donevan High School

MAN, God is doing awesome things at Donevan! 4 more young people gave their lives to Jesus today! More and more people keep coming and hearing the Word of God, it’s awesome!

I would love for everyone reading this to keep a few things in mind when praying:

  • Pray for people to pay attention and for respect.
  • Pray for more favor at Donevan and for us to be able to get into other highschools to be able to reach a greater number of young people for Jesus!
  • Pray for finances. (Yes, even to run a simple impact group we still need finances!)
  • Pray for Leaders to rise up.

Please keep us in prayer as it is not always eazy to go on unpaved grounds. We have been paving it for the last few years but it’s still rough on the edges! Thank you for everyone that are already praying for us each week!

Donevan Impact Feb 12th 09

Posted by Phil Jean on Feb 12, 2009 in Donevan High School

Today was our second part of “When bad Things Happen” we talked out of Exodus 34:5-7. i talked a bit about how God is a just God.

Exodus 34:5-7 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

5 The LORD came down in a cloud, stood with him there, and proclaimed [His] name Yahweh. 6 Then the LORD passed in front of him and proclaimed:

Yahweh—Yahweh is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in faithful love and truth, 7 maintaining faithful love to a thousand [generations], forgiving wrongdoing, rebellion, and sin.  But He will not leave [the guilty]  unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ wrongdoing on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation.

I talked about How He died for us even while we were still sinning (Romans 5:8).  The DVD story was about a girl that called her self Christian but ended up doing drugs with some friends and doing stuff to look cool in front of people. one day, her best friend that called her self a Christian but actually lived it, got in a car accident and died shortly after. Gabby, the girl telling the story, shared about how she got angry with God that her friend that was doing everything right was the one that died while SHE was doing everything wrong and nothing happened to her. She started to get convicted about how SHE was the one that deserved to be punished not her friend.

I used this story to bring the whole thing back to the fact that Jesus was the one with the clean hands yet it was His hands that were pierced not ours. He was the one that got beaten almost to death, not us. He was the one that was stripped down naked, not us. And He was the one that got crucified on the cross…. not us. He took our place and died the death that WE deserve. When i shared Exo 34:5-7, i shared about how even though God doesn’t let the wicked go without consequences, He is faithful to forgive them (and us) of our sins if we truly repent.

It was just an awesome moment all together. Needless to say God move mightly as 3 kids got saved and 3 others rededicated their lives to a serious relationship with Jesus! Please if you are reading this, keep praying for our Highschools, they need a move of God. The reality is that God is willing and ready but He needs servants to help plow the way! God Bless!

Donevan Impact Feb 5th

Posted by Phil Jean on Feb 5, 2009 in Donevan High School

Today we had our first Impact at Donevan High school since the exams last week. We started the second session of a series called I AM Getting To Know God. Today’s session was about “When Bad Things Happen”. It consisted of someone sharing a testimony about how her mom was diagnosed with cancer and quickly got ill and soon after died. The young girl sharing the story is talking about how she got angry with God but rather then to run away with the anger, she ran to God with it! we had really good conversations after. one of the questions in the lesson was “If God is such a loving God then why do you think there is suffering?” It was really cool to hear what everyone thought. I challenged my gorup by asking them to ponder on this statement, “Without suffering, there is no compassion.” I told them it was like there would be no need for food if there was no hunger. The fact is that this is the land of the dying. We are not meant to stay here but to move on to Heaven where there IS no pain, sickness and death. We have to make sure that our hope is in whats to come and not in earthly things such as relationships, wealth etc…
