The Danger Of Comfort.

Posted by Phil Jean on Jan 19, 2010 in Life

Due to my recent hand injury, (explained in the previous post. read for full details.) I’ve been thinking a lot about life and how precious it is. how easy it is to loose it. It takes 9 months for a husband and a wife to bring an other being to life but it only takes seconds for it to disappear. I know it is kind of a “clicher” to say this because it’s been said so many times, probably because it’s true but you never know what you have until you loose it. Sometimes we get so comfortable with what we have and what possess that it get dangerous.

See, what we need to realize is that familiarity, apathy and comfortability can be more dangerous then we think. Let me explain! Once I started to work there, I didn’t really know how everything worked, where anything was kept as well as  how to do anything. As the days and weeks even months went on, I kept on learning new things and new ways to get work done by taking short cuts or prioritizing my work in a certain way. Some of the machinery that we use we need to be alert and careful with due to the danger that could and can occur. (The results speak for themselves.) Unfortunately, i got to comfortable with one of the machines, thinking that i could just be relaxed while using it, not really being careful and alert to my work. Well we all know where that led me.

The same thing goes on for everything in our lives especially when it come to our relationship with Christ and dealing with sin. If sin is not dealt with right away and cut off from our lives, it can very well mean our life or even our salvation. We come to church services and at first it’s exciting and fun but then you get familiar with it. You let your self become apathetic towards God. We need to be alert and aware as Christians because sometime live can throw stuff our way and if we aren’t ready for it, it can take us out. Some of you may be living in sin and are thinking, “i’m ok, Jesus knows my heart. He forgives.” You need to shake your self out of that mindset and take the steps necessary in order to get your life back on track before it catches up to you and believe me it will. I’m not saying this to freak you out or to condemn you. I am rather saying this from experience and out of love! Hope you were blessed by this.

Hand Injury.

Posted by Phil Jean on Jan 19, 2010 in Life

So as many of you might know, I have had an accident at work last Monday. Without going too much in details, I got my hand caught in a machine at work, broke my thumb at 2 different places, I broke my index at 1 place and also had to get 7 stitches on my index. When i went to emergency they stitched me up and put my whole hand and forearm in a temporary cast until I could see the doctor again this week. I had an appointment with a plastic surgeon/hand specialist yesterday to remove my cast and he said that everything was healing nicely and the my thumb looked really good considering what it looked like in the X-Rays. My hand is currently in a removable device so that I can take my hand out and do some exercise with my fingers. Unfortunately the doctors are saying that i may have a severed nerve since I cannot feel anything on the right side of my index meaning i will need surgery on it so they can sow the nerve back together. I have to go back next Monday so the doctor can look at my hand again and decide if i need surgery or not. I personally believe in a God that is greater then all this and can supernaturally heal My hand and nerves to an even better state then it first was. Thanks to everyone that has been praying for me this whole week. God Bless
